PATRIOT JACKET

The Patriot is a formidable, Dyneema® reinforced down jacket derived from our record breaking Summit Suit. Featuring a 100% recycled and PFC free Pertex® Quantum Pro outer for weather and down proofing, 750 white goose down fill for maximum insulation and abrasion resistant Kyoto Black Dyneema®. The Patriot is the go-to for static activity in freezing conditions.

ThruDark first made a name for itself designing the Summit Suit that broke world mountaineering records, climbing the 14 peaks in the fastest time ever. From this pinnacle of performance, we took the same fabric technologies and design techniques and converted these into an insulated jacket perfect for life below the death zone - the Patriot Jacket.

Pertex® Quantum Pro combines a tightly woven face fabric with a microporous coating to deliver a very high level of water resistance, whilst remaining lightweight, soft and breathable. Its structure also prevents down shedding, keeping as much insulation as possible within the baffles of the jacket. The fabric is high in tear strength and retains a high level of water repellency after repeated wash and wear. Now in a 100% recycled and PFC free construction, the Patriot Jacket bears greater sustainability credentials than the previous model - all without compromising on performance.

At 15x stronger than steel yet half the weight of carbon fibre, Dyneema® is one of the strongest man made fibres on the planet. We've used a Kyoto Black Dyneema® blend to reinforce the shoulders on our Patriot Jacket, an area that typically experiences greater wear and tear when carrying a backpack on expeditions.

The longer line and boxier fit, compared to our Breach Jacket, makes the Patriot the ideal outer layer for throwing over a lighter belay jacket (like our Ithax) once a period of activity is over for maximum insulation during cooldown.In terms of features, the Patriot Jacket now bears a full zip-through design, improving on feedback relating to wearability of the first generation design (which was an overhead smock). An adjustable, insulated hood with elasticated pull cord can be cinched tight to maximise heat retention and a Black Dyneema® peak helps aid visibility in strong winds whilst sheltering the face from sleet, rain and snow. A raised neckline provides further face coverage in torrid conditions. Four external, micro fleece lined pockets, on the chest and waist provide both storage capacity and hand warming with an internal, zipped chest pocket and two stuff pouches for added measure. A stitch through baffle design helps minimise weight and optimise breathability helping the Patriot Jacket to balance weather resistance and expedition readiness. Elasticated cuffs keep the sleeves taut to the wrists, minimising cold ingress and an elasticated waist drawstring mitigates the same. With a two way, YKK Aquaguard® zip for added accessibility and oversized zip pulls for easy operation when wearing gloves or mittens. With bespoke ThruDark "wolf" camo liner.
