As UK Special Forces operators, we were equipped with the highest specification kit and clothing for the operation at hand. That said, we were always critical of the way it performed and we are at the forefront of developing it to meet our exacting demands. Our elite background and years of experience working within this high calibre environment, we feel, gives us a distinct advantage over our competitors. We know what works, and we strip the excess to leave you with a product like no other. We put in the hard yards personally, so you need only to embrace and enjoy the elements and adventure without worrying about your clothing letting you down.
ThruDark co-founders meticulously select every fabric for the products you see before you. In order to develop the best possible outerwear, we then follow the process from initial design and then first prototype/sample. This prototype garment is then tested in all weather extremes to ascertain its overall functional capability. We then return the prototype (if it’s still in one piece) and implement any design and/or fabric changes required for the next iteration. This process repeats, and then repeats some more, until we are completely happy with the final outcome. The finalised prototype then moves into production at our Italian factory. ThruDark garments aren’t simply replications of existing products sourced from Far East countries and rebranded; each and everyone of our products undergoes this same meticulous process.
ULTRA THIN WATER RESISTANT COATING TO PROVIDE INCREASED WEATHER RESISTANCE FOR EXTREME CONDITIONS.
By combining a tightly woven face fabric with a microporous coating, Pertex® Quantum Pro delivers a very high level of water resistance whilst remaining lightweight, soft and breathable. The increased weather resistance and durable construction means these fabrics are ideal for use in cold or damp environments where keeping warm and dry is crucial.

Dyneema® is the trade name given to fibers made with high molecular weight polyethylene. Its properties, such as its strength, lightness, versatility and resistance to chemical and abrasive, agents, make it an ideal yarn for high performance technical fabrics.Dyneema® brand has become a benchmark yarn for this type of fibers, lighter than any other similar yarn on the market and being constantly improved through R&D.
Our 3-layer waterproof ripstop from Schoeller®, featuring c_change® membrane adapts to ambient conditions. Fabric fibres open up allowing excess heat and moisture to escape to the outside air, but at times of low activity remain closed keeping heat close to the body.
At higher temperatures or during sports activities, the polymer structure of the c_change® membrane opens in response to the correspondingly intense moisture development. Excess heat and moisture can escape to the outside air. In the cold, or at times of low activity, the membrane remains closed. As a result of the lower moisture development, the polymer structure contracts and keeps the heat close to the body. Shivering or chilling are effectively prevented.
Dark-colored textiles absorb both visible and invisible sunlight, meaning both heat and light. In all types of textiles, coldblack® reduces this absorption of thermal radiation. This function is particularly effective in the case of darker colours. The result is a noticeably better heat management.

Toughened with a specially engineered Swiss Schoeller® fabric containing ceramic coating technology. When knitted fabrics are subjected to serious abrasion, for example in cycling, the new Schoeller® ceramic coating technology is the ideal solution. The unique ceramic coating offers reliable protection and a high level of comfort even in extremely elastic knitted fabrics. This innovative coating technique involves binding fine ceramic particles firmly onto the textiles, providing protection from excessive wear and tear as well as pilling. 4-way stretch, abrasion resistance, breathable, reflective and hydrophilic.
An irregular twist on a heavy fleece, providing extreme high warmth utilising Polartec® High Loft™ technology. Polartec® High Loft™ takes fleece comfort and thermal warmth to greater heights.
By creating a patented high loft fiber structure, this material is ultra soft and highly compressible. Extended polyester yarns create large air pockets to retain more thermal warmth, while keeping this insulation lightweight. High Loft™ has the greatest warmth to weight ratio of all Polartec® fleece fabric technologies.

Wartime England was in full swing, with pilots flying over the Atlantic in need of a garment that was both comfortable in the cockpit, but also protective should they hit the water. That’s where Ventile® fabric was born.
Life expectancy of a pilot in the sea increased from just four, to over twenty minutes – the time it would take to recover a pilot in the water. Survival rates increased by 80%. The cotton used to manufacture Ventile was selected from extra-long cotton stable fibres, which is only found in the top 2% of the world’s cotton crop. This enabled thin yarns of outstanding strength to be spun and woven – an essential element in the construction of Ventile.
Today, Ventile is still used by fighter pilots the world over. The fabrics incredible properties have seen its use extended into many other demanding locations, from Himalayan mountaineering to Polar exploration. Ventile’s versatility embraces everything from extreme to leisure environments. In 1953 Sir Edmund Hillary reached the world’s highest point on the first summit of Everest in a garment made of Ventile® fabric. In 1979 Adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes crossed the Arctic clothed in Ventile®.

ENGINEERED FOR COMFORT.
Our bespoke ThruDark camouflage liner was designed personally by ourselves. Years of operating as a Special Forces sniper instructor meant selecting and designing our own camouflage was something unique to our brand heritage and story and is an incredible finishing touch to our products. Camouflage, and its application to real world environment, is something we are very accustomed to. To see and not been seen. This particular ThruDark camouflage includes wolf hair, water elements and stone blended together to create a truly unique print. This is on selected jackets only and does not feature on every product.
Military call sign patches are utilised to indicate specific units, groups and individuals on the battlefield. These specific unit/squadron patches are worn by assaulters with tremendous pride. In most cases, these patches are earned by the respective individual and only issued once that individual has proven themselves worthy to carry the patch into battle. The ThruDark patch system was something we wanted to include in order to bridge across into the civilian world. A feeling a brotherhood, of belonging.
