Customer reviews and ratings

  1. Chris

From the moment that this first piece from THRUDARK arrived I knew this was something special. The SF Sciut Smock is lighter than I thought it would be and that is testament to the use of some seriously technical fibres. Even the bag it is presented in adds to the quality.

I was expecting a rougher textured fabric, the images don’t really show enough of the detail to give you the visual clues to help you there. The quality of finish and fit is excellent with no seams in high wear areas, well integrated waterproof zips and drawcords to refine the fit further. I have other garments with COHAESIVE cord locks but the implementation on the Scout is much better, I can see how it will better resist wind, rain and snowy conditions. The fabric itself is of course totally waterproof.

This garment needs some proper testing in the environmental conditions it is intended for, but its big enough to layer up below, adjustable to fit the needs with gloves and to dump heat if you get too warm

Technically, this Smock is exactly what I was looking for and should work well with slings and webbing, as well as on a quad bike in changeable weather conditions. The hood fit is superb. Time will tell but this looks to be a solid purchase, and a no compromise approach to the use of garment technology and technical execution.

Well done THRUDARK – an excellent effort.

After being out in storm dennis this smock was perfect ,kept me warm and dry allday. The materials used are top quality and the fit is just right…yes its a bit pricey but if you buy cheap you buy twice..i cant recommend this smock enough …get your cash out and become a member of the brotherhood
Thx THRUDARK awesome bit of kit

  3. BENJI BARKER

Within 10 seconds of this arriving it was on my body and it hasn’t been off much. The quality of this jacket is the best I have seen, fit XXL is very good, style beats anything hands down, its robustness inserts the element of doubt into its competitors. This jacket worn with just a tshirt in the recent storms kept me warm and dry. 60+mph winds on the cornish coast with added rain, this jacket is that ally even chuck Norris started twitching. 1000% recommended this jacket.

Really is true what the other reviews say – well worth the money!

I’ve had Montane, Buffalo, TAD, Arcteryx LEAF and the SF beats them all hands down.

Really does take the the best aspects of all the other brands offer and upscales them to nigh on perfec solution and looks the b**cks too.

  5. Matt Hardy

This SF Scout Smock is beyond bombproof, Its does more than turn eyes it snaps peoples necks with whiplash when you past them. I am out on the cold wet coastline most days and this keeps my soul warm and dry, the fleece line is softer then a new born puppies coat of hair. If Darth Vader required a new up to date black jacket this would be his first choice. I sized up to an xxl as I am 6ft2 and hench AF its a perfect fit and my now go to jacket before I leave the house.
Take a bow Thrudark you have completed 2020 already mate.

  6. Nick

I recently purchased the Thrudark Scout Smock and I have to say I’m really impressed. The cost is slightly at the higher end but when you see it and wear it it is easy to see why.

Clearly, lots of thought has gone into the garment: it’s warm and waterproof, the side zips making it breathable, large hood with cords at the sides and back with zip at the front to lock in the heat, large pockets at the front sides and top, the fishtail back with waist cords help to trap the heat.

If you want a reliable, strong and quality Smock then I’d recommend Thrudark.

I Will be looking at buying other products from Thrudark in the future.

  7. Gary Ghent

Love this item, I purchased the SF scout smock about a month ago and the weather had been too nice to use it, but over the last couple of days with the rain I finally got to test it out and it’s great! Completely waterproof warm and a good range of movement, the quality of the fabrics used are excellent, it’s not like those crackly hard shells it’s nice and quiet and very hard wearing I would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Thrudark great customer service also and rapid delivery

  8. Grant Hall

Within seconds of opening the parcel the quality just screams out!
Absolutely stunning piece of kit, I wanted a warm, waterproof and wind proof jacket for my wild camping adventures and this item doesn’t disappoint.
All my kit will be replaced with Thrudark

  9. Adam Lees

I have had the Smock for a couple of months now and it has definitely lived up to my expectations. As with all Thrudark items the quality, fit and attention to detail is amazing, from the packaging to the quality and speed of service. I work outdoors and have never found a brand (regardless of cost) that keeps you warm, dry and comfortable all day, which at the end of the day definitely makes a difference to how you feel. Only problem is the Mrs wants one now!

  10. David Labshere

This is truly quality product! My first impressions straight out the package I was blown away! I live in the states and shipping was excellent. I will be acquiring more product from Thrudark no doubt!

  11. Tom Harvey

The Scout edition smock is now my 5th purchase with Thrudark..
I’ve probably paid a month’s rent for their HQ with my purchases, however with that said I do not regret first taking the leap into this fantastic brand.

I have been toying and trying to justify buying the smock for some time. I wanted an item for the ‘Any time any place any weather’ type mantra.

With a supportive partner and also turning 30 this month I took the plunge and brought the smock.

When it arrived, it came in the usual stylish Thrudark cover / bag and I could not wait to open it up..

My initial impression was one of complete satisfaction. The smock oozed quality (as usual!!), with the fabric surprisingly light to the touch.
The fit for me is brilliant.. I am 6,1 tall, weigh 12 stone and purchased the medium. Having long arms is also covered in this item too which is normally a bug bare of mine!.

Having taken the smock out over the last 2 weeks and thrown some heavy rain.. snow and also a few casual walks at it. I can honestly say that I am happy that I justified the price and made the purchase.
It is true, you can’t put a price on quality however this is close.

I am extremely happy with this item and will be saving up for more items..

Thank you Thrudark for staying true to your customers and no compromising on quality!
Keep up the great work chaps and keep pushing forward with design and with no compromise!

  12. Simon Ramsell

Do not hesitate to buy this bit of kit. It does everything and more. Its like a Q car, at first glance you don’t really notice anything but a closer look reveals serious intent!
I wear this up in the Berwyn Mountains, copes with any weather. Looks cool AF too which for a gear tart like me is an added bonus!
I also have the Skirmish fleece which is amazing on its own, wear it under the smock and I think I’d be fine on the Moon!
So cost……well good stuff is never cheap, add in exclusivity, and the fact it outperforms similar products by a huge margin then I think its a bit of a bargain!

  13. Sidney Gill

Smock finally arrived, as soon as you see the packaging you know this product is going to be excellent. I could go on about the quality and the fit, it’s not the first time I’ve shopped here and it won’t be the last. You get what you pay for and you get your money’s worth. Their kit is the dogs bo***cks.

  14. Katie D

Brilliant, high quality purchase, improved dare I say, for a very cold Yorkshire winter, by the new Thrudark base layer as it fits perfectly underneath, isn’t too thick as an extra layer plus adds a fully shaped lining to the hood. The Scout is equally good on its own though due to the fleece lining and has only required an extra layer on very rare occasions despite some freezing temperatures of late. As a 5 ft 6 inch female (wearing size small), not only is it roomy, but one of the defining features for me is its length. Too many competitors coats are far too short so you invariably end up with a cold a**- not so with the Scout. Well worth the investment. Looks as good as new even though it’s been worn every day in all weathers. Pockets are ace, too.

  15. K.T

I’ve had this smock for 5 months and I can’t fault it. The quality of this garment is phenomenal and it looks the business. The inside polartec lining runs from wrist to wrist and throughout the body and keeps you warm and dry when on the move. The outer is hard wearing and the overall design is exactly what I want in a jacket. The hood can be fitted to exactly as you need it and sizing is spot on. I’m 6”2 15st and a large is perfect.
I was hesitant at first to spend so much on it but having done so, I’m now looking at other thrudark jackets to buy because it’s that good. I do have hoodies, T-shirt’s and caps from thrudark. Think I’ve become a fan of the gear. Keep it going lads.

  16. Ed A

It’s a remarkable jacket. It laughs in the face of bad weather. Looks incredible and can’t be beaten on quality.

  17. Steve Abbott

An exceptional product. The moment I was informed of the arrival of my Scout Smock, I was chuffed to bits, it literally felt as though my birthday and Christmas had come at the same time. The smock was initially out of stock in my size, so I waited patiently for it to be restocked. When I received the email informing me it was back in stock, I didn’t hesitate to place the order. I’m so glad I waited, as it was so worth waiting for.

Even before donning the smock, just by feeling the quality of the level and type of materials used, it was very evident the product has been conceived, from a culmination of the unequivocal level of skills, knowledge and experience, from a team of highly revered operators, bringing a first class garment into fruition. The composite of the materials used, work in absolute technical harmony with each other.
The garment far surpasses the common or garden, big brand outdoor apparel in the same category.

The Scout Smock is certainly a well thought out and well-constructed garment. It’s a lightweight, durable and contemporary bit of kit, with zipped pockets and a kangaroo pouch to keep loose items secure and dry. Even though I’ve not yet had the opportunity to wear the smock in inclement weather, I have absolutely no doubt it will do exactly what it says on the tin, keeping me warm, dry and breathable. A far cry from the standard crisp packet jacket, issued when I was serving back in the day.

The garment certainly draws attention the brand commands and respect to the guys behind it.
Since being made aware of THRUDARK and being the proud owner of one of their amazing products, I’ve noticed a few guys wearing THRUDARK attire. Being a veteran myself, I am filled with an enormous sense of pride, knowing that I am part of a brotherhood, who have invested in supporting fellow veterans to succeed.

I’m so pleased with my Scout Smock, I can’t recommend, rate and endorse, not only this product, but the brand, highly enough. The price tag is commensurate with the attention to detail, materials used and the level of research and development from the team behind the brand. I’ll without doubt be ordering from THRUDARK again.

    Thank you Guys, good effort.

  18. Stuart Harrison

Thrudark smashed it out the park with the SF SCOUT SMOCK. It pretty much kept me alive at the top of Ben Hope with 50mph winds at -10c. Very high quality and no signs of water Ingress at all. Keep the wind and rain out and the liner is warm and toasty. You can’t go wrong with this smock. Buy it.
