  1. James Tibble

My jacket arrived this morning, quicker than expected. Absolutely amazing quality & perfect fit. I’ve not had a chance to test it out yet in the winter weather, however I’d already say this is going to be outstanding. Great work guys.

  2. Carmen Paul

Unbelievable construction and great warmth. Had this jacket on with a mere thin t-shirt under it with 30*F and wind blowing to be sweating on a walk. Can’t wait for an attic blast to really put this to use. Not abnormal to see single digits or negatives here in winter. I feel more ready than ever.

  3. David Westhaver

Received my SF Breach Jacket on Dec 22 in time for Christmas. I was immediately impressed with the construction. The size and placement of the baffles ensure that there is coverage in all the right places to keep the vitals insulated. The articulated arms with baffling running the length of the arm is an outstanding design that I had not seen before. This feature provides significant insulation coverage to the shallow blood vessel in the elbow and wrist serving to provide better warmth in the core, fantastic Thrudark! Materials are the lightest possible without compromising abrasion resistance. Sizing is perfect for me as a 210 lb 6’0″ athletic build the XL fits exactly right keeping proper loft in the jacket without excessive bulkiness. The other day at -23 C and -29C with wind chill there was no discomfort at all, no cold spots any where. This jacket is the warmest I have ever had, good job Thrudark another fabulous piece of outdoor kit!

  4. Davie Baird

Had my breach jacket for 3 weeks now. The quality is first class. I’m 6’2 and slim build, large fits perfectly. Incredibly lightweight but super warm.I have other down jackets from Berghaus, sasta and north face which now live in my cupboard gathering dust. This thing is faultless. Take a bow guys.

  5. klausmichael

This jacket is amazing and extremely comfortable! So if you need a winter jacket this is the one and only you need.

  6. Ollie

My jacket arrived just before Christmas. I’ve been after a robust warm down jacket for some time and this ticks all the box’s: warm, fantastic fit, robust and the lots of useful pockets. Very happy!

  7. Ben Jukes

Amazing Jacket, incredibly warm Fit is spot on. Owned for around a month now and couldn’t be happier with it.

  8. Andrew Cranston

Arrived quicker than expected. The jacket is excellent, it looks the business and it is the business. It is definitely worth going one size bigger. The quality is excellent and the inside design is amazing.
I can’t wait to get my next item from you guys!

  9. Lloyd Moore

Bought this jacket for something to provide more insulation in between long hikes and then standing around in the cold. Recently got caught out when going back home to manchester at the weekend in some severe horizontal rain and for a jacket only rated as water-repellant, it kept me remarkably dry. Looking forward to a thrudark shell to complement this. Goodbye arcteryx.

  10. Steve Lord

Epic bit of kit. Excellent construction. Brilliant warmth to weight ratio. Very water resistant for a down jacket. Brilliant fit. I’m 6ft 1″ 14 stone 10. Bought an XL. Like a glove.

  11. Scott Davies

Very well-made and warm jacket actually it’s a bit too warm. Fits perfect and zips are spot-on

  12. Howard

I took delivery of an SF Breach Jacket today and would say that it’s a stunning piece of kit! It’s stealthy and tactical without being too obvious – the understated nature of the jacket is spot on with subtle detailing and well thought out design cues…

There’s nothing like it in the mainstream – the TD brand is certainly unique and if you want an awesome jacket that fits perfectly then this is a worthy contender! I’m 6′ 4″ and 105kg and the XL fitted exactly how I’d hoped it would!

I’d only recently discovered the ThruDark brand and really by luck more than anything but I’m delighted with my jacket and all that backed up by genuine SF operators!

  13. Dave Haines

What can I say that hasn’t been said already, this jacket is amazing!

Fast delivery, via DPD, and well packaged and presented.

I haven’t had the chance to test this jacket fully, but I am already convinced it’ll stand up to everything I throw at it. The jacket is well constructed, using ourstanding materials, and the fit is perfect based on the size guide. Plenty of pockets to store, or lose, your essentials.

  14. Gary Ghent

This jacket is bomb proof I own a lot of high end trekking gear from Arc’teryx and Fjallraven and this is on par with all of them the fit is perfect and the quality is spot on it’s warm but breathable. Quality piece of kit

  15. Tom M

Had this jacket since January and worth every penny. If you want quality and robustness combined with allyness, then go ThruDark. This is my 6th garment from the blokes and is testament yet again to the craftsmanship and care that ThruDark put into the kit.

  16. Pedro Duarte Ramos

My Jacket Arrived yesterday, and i have to let you know a little secret!!! Using Carlsberg Advert,” Probably the best Jackets in the World”.
Amazing Quality, attention to detail, and comfort. From 4 different, more expensive Down feather Jackets, Thrudark is surely the best one i have ever Owned.
    Thanks Guys.

  17. Mark Richards

Fantastic item that is very well made, lightweight, durable, and fits perfectly. Although the jacket is a little pricey it is most certainly worth it.

  18. Mr M

My SF Breach arrived yesterday, preparing for the winter! This jacket is a quality piece of kit, well designed with plenty of storage and it fits perfect. I am 90kg and a 44” chest and bought a size L .. To those thinking about the price …. I would say” buy once and buy right”.. you won’t find better.

  19. Aaron

Received my breach! Instantly feel the quality that thrudark never fails to deliver! The TD camouflage is a great touch.

  20. chrisharringtonc

Light speed delivery as usual. I was massively impressed with the recoil jacket i bought a while ago, but this jacket is another level. Fits like a glove and oozes quality design. The Para Jumper coat I have will be getting re homed in the attic. Treat yourself and buy one

  21. t.maisonobe

It’s hard to add more to the previous reviews, this down jacket is incredibly warm.
I cannot even wear it open with a t-shirt in 0°C, i sweat in a few minutes standing. Looking forward to try that thing in the coming -25.
If you are on the fence, go ahead, get it.

  22. Richard Allan

Absolute class jacket, fits perfect, lightweight and very comfortable, would 100% recommend to anyone out there thinking of purchasing one

  23. Christopher Dunkin

An extremely high-quality jacket that does not disappoint! Very warm and just what I need during these winter months during working and training outside. The inlay inside this jacket is insane! Great work guys.

  24. Mike W

Wonderful detailing and construction. Want to give it 5/5 but I find the fit perhaps slightly too close even with the XXL at 6’4”, 46 chest, 40 waist and 230lbs. If they did a 3XL I’d be all over that like a rash. As it is I’ll either have to lose some lockdown lard or move the XXL on. Great shame but the fit niggles – so grabbed the Expedition Parka which fits perfectly!

  25. Callum Davie

Have had my SF Breach jacket for a few months now and it really is quality and one of my favourite jackets (find myself saying that about everyone I buy). Was in need for a thick warm jacket that would see me through winter and out in the Scottish hills, this definitely delivered.

The jacket has plenty of pockets for storing stuff and good adjustability with the hood and waist draw cords. Have been out recently in the highlands with this jacket and I’m far from cold at the top, temperatures sitting in the minus with -5 at the top.

I would say the fit is tighter on this one compared to the SF Patriot so just be sure on the sizing before you order.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a tough winter jacket. Another quality piece of kit from the Thrudark lads!

  26. Chris Walker

I bought this coat on Friday, it turned up Saturday. Absolutely blown away by it. Super light but ridiculously warm. Quality is superb. Looks great, and fits like a glove. My new go to brand.

  27. Jamie stephen

Amazing jacket ! For a normal winter in the south I can wear just the breach jacket and a t shirt under no extra Layers . Really warm and amazing quality!

  28. Tim

Just received my breach jacket today , brilliant bit of gear and the quality is superb , looks and feels like it will last for many winters compared to more well known brands jackets . I can’t recommend thru dark gear enough and il be buying more stuff in the future .

  29. Dom Hickson

I’ve owned my Breach for around 6 months but wanted to get through a winter before reviewing it. Already have a few other jackets from Thrudark so I knew the quality was spot on but I needed a warm winter coat and it doesn’t disappoint!

The fit is perfect, looks even better in the flesh and it’s super light also. I can agree with some other reviews also that it’s so warm, I’ve worn it with just a t shirt underneath in freezing windy weather and it’s been super snug. In fact I sometimes need to remember not to wear too much underneath otherwise it’s too hot!

I would certainly recommend this jacket, it’s well worth the investment for anyone who’s thinking of buying one. Once again top marks all round!

  30. Alan Cuthbert

Being a follower and admirer of Thrudark for a while now, I finally treated myself to the SF Breach Jacket at Christmas. The jacket has exceeded my expectations, and then some! First and foremost, it’s functional and toasty warm. Oh, and it’s looks cool as fcuk too! As an former Infanteer and Police Mountain Rescue team member, the Breach Jacket is right up there (if not better) than any other bit of kit I’ve worn. Have to admit, I bloody love Thru Dark, their products, ethos…the full bhoona! Since this purchase I’ve been gifted the Black Ops Hoodie (also awesome) and I plan to purchase the Phalanx fleece when it restocks. Five stars! 👊🏼🖤

  31. Mark Thomson

Cracker of a jacket. Super warm. Comfortable and looks the business too!! 170cm and a small fits perfectly.

  32. Stuart Harrison

Had this jacket for 2 winters now and it’s a brilliant winter jacket. It’s my fault winter jacket as taking it on trips (recently Scotland). Its incredibly warm (as you’d expect) and fairly water resistant as it will keep a light shower off. People comment on the proce of thrudark but you get what you pay for. There are more expensive brands out there. Buy Ince cry once. If you’re looking for the ultimate down jacket buy the Breach.

  33. Mark

Jacket recieved within 24hrs, so super impressed. Quality written all over it. Top materials and design. Almost too good for the mountains. But looking forward to putting it through its paces in its natural environment.

  34. Ernest Kim

Today’s temp was 5C so I thought this would be a good opportunity to test my new SF Breach Jacket. All I was wearing underneath was a ThruDark t-shirt, and within 10 minutes of walking I was already sweating. I couldn’t feel the wind chill or cold temp at all. Brilliant design and I can’t wait to take this to the snow mountains.

  35. Kev Cooke

I’ve purchased a few things from these boys now and took delivery of my breach jacket this morning. First things first I’m 6’2” and just shy of 15st. I went XL and glad I did, it fits perfectly. L would have been too tight.
It’s very lightweight but very warm. The design is amazing and I love the look of the Cordura sections on the shoulders and arms. Plenty of large pockets with quality YKK zips and the hem has a slight drop at the rear with adjustable chords for tightening it up if needed. The inlay is something else, nothing like that design out there and there’s also a slightly lighter material at the arm pit for ventilation. Works well.
It goes well as daily casual wear but I can see this coming with me on my next trek to the highlands.
It’s expensive, it’s mint, it looks the b*llocks.

  36. Stuart Douglas

Jacket arrived quicker than expected in time for my 7 day trek in the alpes. As soon as it was time to stick another layer on, on went my sf breach and instantly felt impressed with the warmth, feel and comfort.within the first hours of climbing the normal route through the Aiguille du Gouter it’s subsequently failed on its well advertised robustness. With a slight tear on the chest piece. With the weather being worse for wear -8 plus snowfall. I put that to the back of my mind.Upon arrival at the gouter hut I’d noticed 2 more tears on the right arm. Bit of back and forth with thurdark who put this down to accidental damage so not covered through the “brotherhood” warranty.
All in all its a great looking jacket and really did hold up on its part of keeping me warm unfortunately the integrity of its robustness failed me,on whats a pretty tame climbing route. Due to this I’ll be going back to my Arcteryx Fission SV Jacket for my monterneering treks
