HARI BUDHA MAGAR
Hari Budha Maga – a legend in his own right. Hari joined The Gurkhas when he was 19 and went on to serve his country in The Royal Gurkha Rifles. The Gurkhas are renowned for being a formidably tough and ferocious fighting force. It was here Hari deployed to some of the world’s most dangerous and hostile countries on multiple times.
Hari was medically discharged from the Gurkhas after losing both legs above the knee in an IED attack (improvised explosive device) in Afghanistan in 2010. Hari also sustained multiples injuries during the blast and to this day continues to suffer from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder).
Hari says, “I am a soldier that has been trained to fight. In the past it was the enemy, but today I am fighting this injury. I fight to re-establish my mental health. I will live my life to the fullest whilst inspiring others.”
Hari’s project – named Conquering Dreams – is his plan to be the first double amputee to summit Mount Everest and is the reason we made the ThruDark Summit Suit.
Hari had approached other branded summit suit manufactures to see if they could produce a bespoke suit to fit his body. That proved unsuccessful, so we offered to design and develop a bespoke suit for him. Hari’s project is still ongoing and he plans on summiting Everest in 2021.
Hari is an inspiration and is doing exactly what he set out to do – just as those who know him will expect.
