The Story So Far
ThruDark Anniversary: 2 Years On
PASSION | PURPOSE | PROGRESS
For 2 years now we’ve strived to deliver the very best outdoor performance clothing and equipment to our loyal customers.
The brand name ‘Thru-Dark’ represents the endurance through difficult situations experienced not only by ourselves and our colleagues but to all those who encounter hardships in their own lives.
Louis, Staz & Jay spent the majority of their military careers within the United Kingdom Special Forces. In this time they endured some of the world’s most arduous environments in extremely demanding circumstances.
ThruDark was born out of our constant requirement for the best clothing and equipment to assist them to ‘Endeavour Through Adversity’.
As a brand, we are proud to represent UKSF heritage in the clothing industry. We will continue to deliver the highest quality clothing & equipment for all of our current & future customers for years to come.
The brand was established on the 25.05.2018 by our co-founders Louis & Staz after months of planning after their exit from the UK special forces, they were later joined by Expeditions Director Jay Morton & Media Director Matt Hardy.
We took a look at some standout moments from ThruDarks history over the last 2 years…

THE SUPERHUMAN MOUNTAINEER: NIRMAL PURJA MBE TAKES ON BREMONT PROJECT POSSIBLE
In just 6 months and 6 days, Nirmal “Nims” Purja MBE has completed his challenge to summit Earth’s 14 tallest mountains, smashing the previous record of almost eight years and taking his place in mountaineering history.
Earth’s 14 tallest mountains, all higher than 8,000m, enter the ‘death zone’ which is so-called because human life cannot exist there. This did not deter Nims, who joins a list of just 40 climbers to have completed what could be considered the ultimate mountaineering goal.

THIS IS THE WAY: OPERATION RONIN
Niseko was our base over the next 14 days, the home of Japanese skiing. From here the ThruDark testing team under the guidance of Macca would search for the best conditions and the most testing terrain….. The first initial 5 days would see the skies open up and gift the team with huge snowstorms, meaning every morning we had fresh, untracked, bottomless lines to search and descend.
Skiers – Jay Morton, Macca, Frankie.
Our products at ThruDark are able to perform in the bleakest of conditions, it was our intention to showcase in this extremely challenging high energy output environment. Our products out work you, not the other way around. We predominately wore the SF RAID jacket most days but whenever there was a requirement to wear something more active we switched to the SF SKIRMISH and the SF ZODIAC which offered a lighter more ventilated package. The SF BREACH was utilised for extreme insulation and the SF ENGAGE (which has not been released) was employed as our active insulation whilst on the mountain. We also took time to test what will be ThruDarks mountain salopettes and these should be ready for winter 2020…
